Caring For Self, Caring For Others

Certain complementary care practices enhance traditional medicine and give both the patient and the caregiver tools for minimizing pain, fatigue, and side effects from certain treatments. Research studies have shown that massage and yoga, which includes meditation and specific breathing practices, improve sleep outcomes, lessen fatigue, decrease the side effects of treatment, improve physical functioning, and enhance quality of life for oncology patients. These same benefits occur for people dealing with a multitude of other issues, whether it's life-threatening or simple chronic stress. Patty Williamson and Paula Dean will be teaching practical techniques to help make the patient, loved one, or yourself more comfortable and serene. Learn relaxation techniques, specific breathing patterns, meditation methods, therapeutic massage and touch therapy that will not only benefit the patient, but the caregiver as well. Nurses, home healthcare workers, family members, spouses, hospice workers, friends --anyone who is involved in caring for someone, including themselves -- can benefit from this seminar.
